Flowers with BLING 1st Grade Chalk/Glue project

Our last project of the year was a flower with "bling", otherwise known as gold glitter.

I actually did this last year to save 150 glued projects when the humidity caused the papers to droop on the drying rack and the glue all puddled up.  I hated to throw away all those projects so I decided to re-glue the flowers and add gold glitter.  The first graders were so thrilled with the surprise glitter lines they didn't even care about the glue puddles! This year I added the glitter the first time to add a little bling.

We do this as a chalk and glue project with glitter lines instead of glue lines to outline our flowers.  I have the kids use a paper towel wrapped around their finger to spread a small amount of chalk into each section. This keeps the chalk from getting too dusty and out of control.

Last step is to add details on top of the rubbed chalk such as lines, patterns or seeds.

BEAUTIFUL!
